Campbell Tops Towson Baseball in Game Two

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team hosted Campbell on Saturday afternoon in the second of three CAA games this weekend.

The Campbell (13-9, 7-1 CAA) offense stayed hot, scoring in every inning except the second and sixth. Towson's (7-12, 0-8 CAA) offense scored a few runs early, but went quiet to give the Camels a 20-4 win in seven innings.

Key Stats:
  • Towson starter Aden Knowles (1-3) took the loss after allowing nine runs, eight earned, on seven hits and three walks in 2.1 innings pitched. Knowles struck out two batters.
  • Campbell starter David Rossow (4-1) earned the win, allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits and four walks in 5.0 innings pitched. Rossow struck out one batter.

How it Happened:
  • Campbell scored two runs on three hits in the first inning to grab an early edge.
  • The Camels added seven runs on four hits, most notably Jonah Oster's grand slam, and an error in the third inning, extending their lead to nine.
  • With two runners on in the bottom half, Keldrin Rodriguez bunted and reached first safely on an overthrown ball to first base, allowing both runners to score. After Brian Heckelman's sacrifice bunt moved K. Rodriguez to third, Nich Francuzenko's RBI double down the left field line plated the third and final Tiger run of the frame.
  • The Camels tried a double steal with two outs in the top of the fourth. After the throw down to second base, the runner from third came home safely before the final out was retired.
  • Campbell added five runs on four hits in the fifth inning, extending their lead to 15-3.
  • The Camels continued with five runs on three hits and an error in the seventh, making it a 17-point lead.
  • Max D'Alessandro hit a double to center field in the seventh inning scoring Frank Adamski Jr. from first base. After a walk, the Tigers grounded into a game-ending double play with a final score of 20-4.
