EASTON, Penn. – Towson men's golf sits atop the leaderboard after round one at the ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational with a score of one-over par.
Jai Sheth is in a tie for second as an individual at two-under par.
Ariihau Faana also shot under par at one-under in the first round.
Sheth eagled two consecutive holes starting with hole 10 where he holed out from 41 yards on the par four, 379-yard hole. Sheth followed up with an eagle on the par five, 494-yard hole 11. Sheth had the second-best score on par-fives on the day at three-under par.
Faana started off his day with a birdie on hole one and was never above par on the day. He birdied holes 11, 12 and 15 to score one-under par in a tie for seventh place. Faana shot two-under on par-fives, the seventh best of any golfer on the day.
Sky Aung shot even par, rounding out his day with a birdie on his final hole. Aung shot two-under par on par-fours, the second best of any golfer.
Michael Matheson rounded out the scorers for Towson at four-over par. Matheson shot two-under par on the course's back nine.
Matthew Gonnello shot eight-over par during round one. He parred 12 holes on the day, tied for the eighth most of any golfer on the day.
Competing as an individual,
Poon Nantsupawat turned in a four-over par first round with birdies on holes one and seven.
Towson ended the day tied with four other teams in par five scoring on four-under par and tied for second in par four scoring at nine-over par.
The second and final round will start at 9 a.m. on Monday.
