Metil Adds Seven Players Ahead of 2026 Season

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University volleyball head coach Don Metil has announced the addition of seven incoming players ahead of the 2026 season. The group features five freshmen and two transfers.

Bjanka Stojanovic, a 6-foot-1-inch opposite hitter, comes to Towson after spending the 2025 campaign at Georgia Tech. A Serbian native, Stojanovic did not play for the Yellowjackets during her lone season there. Her previous playing experience includes professional club stops with VK Královo Pole Brno (2023-25) in Czechia and Újpesti TE (2022-23) in Hungary.

"I'm excited about Bjanka's arrival at Towson. She is from the same town as Nina Cajic and will also be the first 'lefty' opposite hitter we have added to the squad since Liv Finckel," said Coach Metil. "Having a left-handed opposite in the gym will add another layer of training and scouting opportunity to our practices. She's got a great arm, accelerates into her attack and has trained at a high level the past season while at Georgia Tech. Bjanka is intense, driven, determined and has something to prove. All these characteristics will drive our offense to greater heights and competitiveness, especially within our opposite hitter group."

Hailing from Magdalenka, Poland, middle blocker Lilia Duczek joins the Tigers' squad after playing for Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) foe, Hofstra, in 2025. Duczek totaled 51 kills, 80.0 blocks and 12 service aces in 57 sets across 17 matches. Standing at 6-feet-2-inches, her 1.40 blocks per set average was the second highest among Pride players last season. A polish native, the rising sophomore boasts international playing experience with the Polish National Team.

"After competing against Lilia last season, we felt she would be a great addition to our middle blocker unit.  She will add to our depth at the position, and brings with her many years of international experience, which may prove viable in becoming our potential serving middle with defensive capabilities," added Coach Metil. "She can turn the ball at the top of her contact point and displays a high wrist snap, which should allow her to maintain high hitting efficiency for us in the middle. Lilia also reads well, effectively closes in both directions, and has a wide range of attacks, which will allow us to maintain flexibility within our offense."

Paraskevi "Evi" Priniotaki, a 5-foot-11-inch outside hitter, joins the Tigers' squad as a freshman from Heraklion, Crete. Priniotaki has played for Greek volleyball clubs, including OFI Crete. She also represented Greece internationally in the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV).

"Evi is from Crete, and after Hutch came back from evaluating her, we fully committed to adding her to our outside hitter group for 2026," noted Coach Metil. "Evi has a big arm and hits a heavy ball.  She has power, confidence, focus, and energy, which can spark our offense on every swing.  She's a true six-rotation outside hitter, and I'm confident she can handle the load in serve-receive, while also giving us another back-row attack option.  After chatting with Evi, her commitment to volleyball, her own development and love for her teammates are everything we discuss within our culture here at Towson, and she is going to be a fantastic addition to our community.  She's going to be very fun to watch!"

Setter Kamree Orizotti joins the Black & Gold after four years as a varsity starter at South Salem High School in Oregon. Orizotti finished her high school career as Oregon's all-time career assist leader with 3,567 assists for the Saxons. The incoming freshman posted 709 digs, 165 kills, 111 blocks and 226 aces alongside her record-setting assist tally.

"Watching Kamree at USA Nationals last year excited me for the future of Towson Volleyball," said Coach Metil. "She's on a great team at Athena and runs a quick offense. She is the Oregon all-time leader for career assists, which will pay dividends as she gets to set a wide array of fun attackers on our 2026 roster.  Kam can run a 5-1, and her consistent delivery and tempo will be enjoyable to watch.  She has a high volleyball IQ and, combined with a calm demeanor, equips her to lead our team back to a CAA championship."

A 6-foot-3-inch middle blocker, Clara Vorel had an illustrious high school career at South Effingham High School outside of Savannah, Georgia. In 387 sets played, she totaled 1,216 kills on a .490 hitting percentage, adding 320 blocks and 267 aces. Vorel owns the South Effingham career kills record and was named the 2025 Georgia Volleyball Coaches Association (GVCA) Class 5A Co-Player of the Year.

"Clara gives us much-needed depth in the middle," noted Coach Metil. Her length and quickness, as well as her high contact point, will provide a component within our offense that will be absent with the graduation of Erin Brothers. She has attacking range along the net and can also serve and play defense, which gives us options for which middle we utilize behind the line. She was named the 2025 Class 5A GVCA Co-Player of the Year, and I can't wait for her to energize our gym with her effort, determination, work ethic and talent."

Nola Duncan, a 6-foot-1-inch freshman outside hitter, comes to Towson from West Orange High School. She holds the Mountaineers' team records for career kills (753), single season kills (314) and career service points (175). A four-year varsity letter holder, Duncan is a two-time first team all-conference selection and a one-time second team all-state selection in the Garden State.

"Nola is an incredible raw talent. Originally a middle, Nola has transitioned to outside, and we are excited for her continued growth and development," added Coach Metil. "She has all the physical gifts to emerge as a top attacker on our team and in the CAA during her time at Towson.  Nola touches over ten feet, has serve-receive passing responsibilities and the heart of a champion. As we continue to train Nola in our gym, there is no doubt she will develop into a dominant force."

A native of Doral, Florida, libero Kayla Zanon comes to Towson after playing four seasons at Divine Savior Academy. She finished her high school career as the Sharks' all-time second-ranked digs leader (806), fifth-ranked blocks leader (65) and seventh-ranked kills leader (595). Zanon boasts three second team and one third team Miami Herald All-Dade County selections during her academy career.

"When I heard Kayla Zanon became available and then had the opportunity to watch her at AUU's in 2025, recruiting her became a top priority for me," said Coach Metil. "From my first interaction with Kayla, I was drawn to her leadership capabilities, winning attitude and maturity. The libero position requires those characteristics to lead a team to championships. I am confident that with Kayla joining us this fall, we will become a better program. She is the definition of grit, hustle and leadership, and I look forward to her development here at Towson."

These seven newcomers join the Tigers' 2025-26 mid-year transfers of outside hitter Anna Rice and libero Megan Platt, along with nine returners, to complete the roster ahead of the 2026 season.
