RICHMOND, Va. –
Kale'a Perry was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason Player of the Year, the conference announced. Perry was also named to the Preseason All-CAA Team with
Emely Rubio and
Sophie Thibeault named honorable mentions.
As a team, Towson University women's soccer was picked to finish fourth in the north division, one point behind the consequential third place. Only the top three teams from each division make it into the postseason.
Perry was a member of the 2025 All-CAA Postseason First Team. She finished the season with eight goals and six assists. She was 10th in the country in shots per game and shots on goal per game. Perry is the first CAA Preseason Player of the Year from Towson since 2022 when Nia Christopher won the award.
Rubio led the CAA in assists last season. Her chemistry was key to Perry's success last season, having assisted on four of Perry's seven non-PK goals. The El Salvador National Team member added a goal against Mount Saint Mary's in the 2025 season opener.
Thibeault was a member of the 2025 All-CAA Postseason Second Team after tallying seven goals in 2025, good for a tie for fifth in the conference including a tie with the 2025 CAA Attacking Player of the Year.
Despite being picked to narrowly miss out on the postseason, the Tigers have a lot to look forward to in the 2026 campaign. Towson women's soccer is in the midst of historically great success at Tiger Field. The past five seasons have all had at least a .500 winning percentage. There has only been one prior streak of consecutive .500 or better seasons, those came in 1996 and 1997.
In the state of Maryland, there has not been a more successful team since 2022. Of the six division one women's soccer teams in Maryland since 2022, Towson women's soccer has the most overall and conference wins while having the fewest overall and conference losses. The Tigers are the only team with a winning percentage above .650.
Towson women's soccer begins the regular season at Mount Saint Mary's on Aug 16. The home opener is against George Washington on Aug 23 at 6 p.m. Admission to all Towson women's soccer games is free.
