Rosenblatt Scores First Collegiate Goal in Loss to St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y. – A final minute goal by St. John's allowed the Red Storm to take the 2-1 win over the Towson University women's soccer team on Thursday.

"I'm really proud of our second half grit and determination. Our back line had a great game. We created a lot of chances in our attack and some younger players got some quality minutes. We worked today. The final result does not reflect the quality of the play. We had a very unfortunate mistake with 37 seconds left in regulation. I have no doubt that we will learn from that. Now, we will focus on bouncing back and preparing for [George Washington] on Sunday," head coach Katherine Vettori said.

The Red Storm's (1-2-0) first goal was initially called back due to offsides. After replay review, the goal was allowed, giving St. John's the decisive tally. Sofia Rosenblatt answered with a Towson goal in the 66th minute off a corner kick to tie up the game. After St. John's regained possession in the Towson box in the final minute, the Red Storm put away the decisive goal.

The Tigers (1-1-0) move to 0-3-2 all-time against St. John's. Towson is 0-1-1 in the Katherine Vettori era against the Red Storm.
