TOWSON, Md. – Towson University women's soccer opened its 2026 home schedule with a draw against George Washington 2-2.
"It was a hard-fought game, and we took it to GW in the second half. The build up to our first goal was beautiful—Sophie to Riley to a great finish from KP. Sofia's goal was excellent as well. Our defense played very well, yet we need to learn how to close out games and not give up set pieces as a group. We continue to create a lot of chances, now we need to finish. It's early and we are learning a lot about ourselves each game we have the opportunity to play. Shout out to our amazing fans. It was great to play at home," head coach Katherin Vettori said.
The first half came to an end tied at zero before a flurry of goals to start the second half. Less than a minute into the second half Towson scored off a
Kale'a Perry shot from just inside the 18. George Washington answered under three minutes later with an equalizer.
Sofia Rosenblatt scored her second goal of the season to put the Tigers up 2-1 before the Revolutionaries brought it level in the 88th minute.

- The Tigers outshot the Revolutionaries 17-9 but shots on target were nearly equal at 6-5 in favor of Towson.

- 46' Towson Goal – The Tigers came out roaring in the second half. Thibeault dispossessed the Revolutionaries before feeding the ball to Riley Matthews on the wing. Perry made a central run, received the ball from Matthews and slotted the ball just past the George Washington goalkeeper for the match's opening goal.
- 49' George Washington Goal – The Revolutionaries answered with a goal less than three minutes later. A through ball found its way to the George Washington attacker who put the ball into the box. The attacker managed to fit the ball just under the cross bar for the goal.
- 70' Towson Goal – Emely Rubio got wide and fed the ball into the box. The ball was not fully cleared. Rosenblatt got a foot to the ball, putting a shot towards the net. That shot was blocked but Rosenblatt stayed with it and put away a screamer from just inside the 18-yard box.
- 88' George Washington Goal – With time ticking away, George Washington got a corner kick. After some jostling in the box, the ball was able to be redirected to a waiting George Washington attacker inside the six-yard box.
Inside the Numbers
- Rosenblatt has now scored twice on the season, the first two goals of her collegiate career.
- Towson is now unbeaten in its last two matches against George Washington. This ties the longest unbeaten streak for the Tigers against the Revolutionaries (Sept. 9, 2021 and Aug. 25, 2022).
- Lindeman, Birrell and Rosenblatt have played every minute of the season so far.
- Perry's six shots are the most by a Tiger so far this season.
