TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University field hockey team lost to Fairfield 4-2 on Friday at TU Field Hockey Complex. The Tigers (3-6, 0-2 CAA) made it a one goal game with four minutes to play but couldn't find the equalizer as Fairfield (4-4, 1-1 CAA) claimed its first conference win of the season.

• 1^st Quarter: The Tigers won the game's first corner two minutes into the game, and Else Wismans's shot was saved by the Stags goalie. Fairfield would go on to take a 1-0 lead just over a minute later. It required a Stevie Schultz defensive save and two saves from Riley Redding to keep Towson's deficit at one entering the second corner.
• 2^nd Quarter: Fairfield quickly won a pair of corners in the second period and the second resulted in the Stags second goal putting the Tigers down by two. Five minutes later Towson earned a penalty corner of its own and Skylar Santucci delivered to Stevie Schultz who set the ball for Lydia Bennett who slammed the ball home to cut the deficit in half.
• 3^rd Quarter: The shots were even in the third quarter but the best chance came at the midway point of the quarter when Katie Compton carried down the right side of Fairfield's circle and played a ball across goal that was met by Santucci but smothered by the Fairfield keeper. The ball quickly came back to Wismans whose second chance attempt was saved as well preserving the 2-1 score entering the fourth quarter.
• 4^th Quarter: Fairfield scored in the first five minutes of a quarter for the third time in the game as the Stags earned and converted a penalty stroke to put Towson down two once again. With under five minutes to play, the Tigers won a corner and Delfina Larripa delivered to Schulz who shot and scored to again make it a one goal game.
• Towson pulled its goalie for an extra outfield player with four minutes to play but couldn't find the tying goal and the Stags would score on the empty net to seal a 4-2 loss for the Tigers.
