TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University tennis team won four of five matches at the Towson Hidden Duals at the Tiger Tennis Complex to open the 2026 fall season. The three-day event was reduced to one due to a nor'easter that brought rain and winds into the Baltimore metropolitan area this weekend.

Kiersten Tambe (No. 1 singles), Ashira Murray (No. 2), Gaia Montecchi (No. 3) and Chandrè Boshoff (No. 4) all had straight set victories versus Morgan on Friday afternoon. Aubrey Carper and Chloe Courtnage competed in doubles. The match featured four singles and one doubles match.

Towson returns seven of the top eight players from the 2025-26 team that finished with a 10-10 record, the first .500 season since 2018-19. Junior Tamzin Pountney was not in the lineup against Morgan.

"The girls did well in the first competitive setting since last April," said Towson head coach Jamie Peterson, who begins his 11th season year at the helm of the women's tennis program at his alma mater. "I am happy to return nine players from last year's team. They have the ability to make some really positive things happen in 2026-27."
