Christie Rogers enters her third season as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Tiger head coach Niki Reid Geckeler and fourth overall with the Towson women’s basketball program in 2015-16.
Rogers, who works with the Tiger guards, saw plenty of success from her players during the 2014-15 season. Under her watch, freshman point guard Breonn Hughey earned CAA All-Rookie team honors. Hughey led the team and finished fourth in the CAA while averaging 4.4 assists per game. She became the first Tiger player since 1985 to dish out 10 or more assists in a game twice in the same season. In addition Dominique Johnson became just the second player in program history to connect on 70 or more three-pointers in a single-season.
In 2013-14, Rogers worked with the guards and helped senior guard, Tanisha McTiller, earn First-Team All-CAA and All-Defensive Team honors while becoming the conference’s leading scorer, averaging 19.4 points per game. McTiller also ranked among the conference leaders in rebounding (10th), assists (15th), free throw percentage (11th), steals (3rd), 3-point field goals made (15th), offensive rebounds (5th), defensive rebounds (10th), and minutes played (5th). Rogers also helped sophomore guard Dominique Johnson land in the top of the conference in six statistical categories including, scoring (19th), assists (6th), 3-point field goal percentage (9th), 3-point field goals made (5th), assist/turnover ratio (8th), and minutes played (3rd).
In 2012-13, Rogers also guided McTiller to earn Second-Team All-CAA honors and Johnson get a spot on the CAA All-Rookie squad.
Rogers came to Towson from Winthrop University where she spent one year as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. During her time at Winthrop, Rogers helped guide the Eagles to 18 wins, a program best, and aided the program in breaking over 40 school and/or conference records. For the Eagles, Rogers worked with the guards while helping to direct junior guard, Diana Choibekova, to finish the season as the nation’s leading 3-point shooter. Rogers also coached the Big South Player of the Year in sophomore guard, Dequesha McClanahan, who led the conference in scoring with 21.1 points per game, while also averaging 7.2 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game from the point guard position.
In her role as the Recruiting Coordinator, Rogers helped the Eagles sign an ESPN Top-100 Recruiting Class after inking five new Eagles from Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Rogers was also responsible for scouting reports, equipment needs and team travel.
Prior to her time at Winthrop, Rogers spent two years as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Clemson University. During her second year at Clemson, Rogers was named the Assistant to the Recruiting Coordinator and helped with all recruiting related tasks including planning campus visits, creating all recruiting mailouts, managing the recruiting database, and organizing/scheduling off-campus evaluations. During her first year at Clemson, Rogers was responsible for all film exchange and game film breakdown.
Rogers earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Washington College in 2009. While on the Eastern Shore, Rogers was a member of the Women’s Basketball team and in addition to playing point guard she was also a three-year team captain. Prior to graduating from Washington, in 2008 Rogers served as the coaches intern with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA. There she worked directly with the Mystics esteemed coaching staff to assist with all aspects of the program including individual workouts, practice planning, game-day operations, and functioning as a liaison between players and the media. During her time interning with the Mystics, Rogers proved knowledgeable enough to scout opponents and was able to create several scouting reports for the coaches and players to utilize in preparation for games.

Rogers is currently working on her Masters of Science in Youth Development Leadership from Clemson University.
