McKenney led the Tigers to a third-place finish at the All-Florida Invitational (Sept. 18-20) and a second-place finish at the Potomac Relays (Oct. 2) to open the season.

He finished in fourth-place in the 200-yard butterfly (1:49.38) and placed sixth in the 100-yard butterfly (49.70) at the All-Florida Invitational. McKenney was a member of three relays that all finished in the top-five.
 
At the Potomac Relays, McKenney swam on three relay teams that finished in the top-three to help the Tigers finish second-overall.
 
Towson is currently ranked ninth in the nation according to CollegeSwimming.com's Division I Team Power Rankings. The Tigers earned the top spot in the Mid-Major Rankings.
