BALTIMORE, Md. ? Senior linebacker Brian Bradford
(Gaithersburg H.S./Germantown, Md.) of the Tigers has been named to the
Colonial Athletic Association's pre-season all-conference team which
was announced on Wednesday afternoon at the CAA's Inaugural Media Day
at the ESPNZone.
In addition, the Tigers were picked to finish third in the CAA's
Southern Division in the pre-season poll of the conference's coaches.
Towson was third in the pre-season poll behind James Madison and
Delaware. The Tigers were ranked ahead of Richmond, Villanova and
William & Mary.
One of the Tiger co-captains, Bradford is a two-time all-conference
selection. A three-year starter at linebacker, he was named second team
all-league in 2006. He played in nine games last year and was second on
the team with 74 tackles. A third team all-league pick in 2005, he
enters his senior season with 179 career tackles.
The Tigers, who were 7-4 last year, enter the start of pre-season camp with plenty of optimism. Towson was rated 17th in the 2007 pre-season rankings according to Street & Smith's College Football Yearbook.
Towson opens its pre-season camp on Monday, August 6.
Coach Gordy Combs starts his 16th season as the Tigers' coach on August 30 when Towson hosts Central Connecticut at Johnny Unitas® Stadium.
