COLLEGE PARK, Md. ? History was made as the Towson field hockey team handed Georgetown a 6-1 loss on Wednesday night in College Park, Md. The Tigers (9-5) also won their second straight contest with the victory.

Freshman Katie DeFilippo registered her first career hat trick while junior Christina Boarman tied the Towson career assists record (23) and broke her own single-season points record (39) in the victory.

Towson got on the board in the first half as senior Danielle Wacker tipped home her third goal of the season. Wacker's goal came in the 23rd minute off an assist from junior Mariah Schuette. The goal allowed Towson to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

The Tigers got things rolling early in the second half as senior Maureen Meara scored off an assist from DeFilippo in the 42nd minute. DeFilippo got her first tally of the game in the 45th minute off an assist from sophomore Kristie Blumer.

Boarman struck for her team-leading 15th goal of the season in the 46th minute, this one coming on an assist from fellow junior Angie Brewer.

DeFilippo knocked home her second goal of the game in the 61st minute off an assist from Borman. The assist was Boarman's 23rd of her career.  DeFilippo completed the hat trick in the 67th minute off an assist from Blumer.

Georgetown scored its only goal of the game with 53 seconds remaining as Maggie Farrand scored on a breakaway.

Sophomore Whitney Clugston made three saves for her ninth win of the year in net. Deirdre Crovo made nine saves in the loss for the Hoyas.

Towson returns to action on Sunday, October 19 when the Tigers visit #20 American at 1 p.m.
