NEWARK, Del. - Playing its penultimate home game of the season, the University of Delaware scored a pair of goals in the first half and held off a second half comeback by the Tigers to snap a four-game losing streak with a 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association victory at Delaware Mini-Stadium on Friday evening.

The loss dropped the Tigers' record to 3-11-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the CAA while the Blue Hens improved to 5-8-1 overall and 2-5-0 in the CAA.

The Blue Hens took a quick 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when senior forward Caitlyn Germain scored her third goal of the season off an assist from senior midfielder Alli D'Amico. With 18 seconds left in the first half, Delaware upped the advantage to 2-0 when Germain and D'Amico assisted a goal by senior midfielder Jess Bendzlowicz.

The Tigers had several opportunities in the second half to score, but three saves by senior goalkeeper Annie Bevan in the second period thwarted any chance of a comeback by Towson.

Bevan made four saves to record her fourth shutout of the season for the Blue Hens while freshman goalkeeper Jocelyn Papciak had one save for the Tigers, who were outshot by a 12-10 margin.

Delaware also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Tigers will play their final road game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Drexel University for a 1 p.m. game against the Dragons, who earned a 1-1 tie against George Mason on Friday night.
