TOWSON, Md. - Sophomore middle blocker Shelynne Hoyt recorded a match-high 11 kills and hit .529 to lead the Tigers (16-8, 5-3) to their second win in the last three matches, a three-set victory over Georgia State University (1-20, 1-7) at the Towson Center on Friday evening.
The Tigers, who were playing their first home match in nearly three weeks, won the match by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-18.
Hoyt recorded 11 kills on 17 attempts with just two attack errors in helping the Tigers hit .367 as a team. In addition to her 11 kills, Hoyt tallied three block assists as the Tigers recorded 8.0 total team blocks.
Senior outside hitter Ally Perko barely missed a "double double" with nine kills and 12 digs while senior libero Kristina Shannon had a match-high 13 digs.
Junior setter Katee Luecke had a match-high 36 assists along with eight digs for the Tigers.
The Panthers were led by sophomore Ashley Jones, who had a team-high six kills and seven digs while sophomore libero Audrey Cantrell had 11 digs.
The Tigers will host UNC Wilmington on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. It will be the Tigers' Breast Cancer Awareness match.
