WASHINGTON, D.C. - Starting a four-game road trip, the Tigers were hoping to extend their two-game win streak as they entered their game against Georgetown on Friday afternoon. However, the Hoyas overcame a slow start to extend their unbeaten streak to six straight games with a 3-0 victory over Towson at North Kehoe Field.
Junior forward Toni Hudson led the Hoyas to the victory with a goal and two assists as Georgetown posted its third shutout.
After a scoreless first half, the Hoyas took a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the second period when Camille Trujillo converted a Hudson pass for her second goal of the season. Georgetown upped the advantage to 2-0 with 8:24 remaining when Hudson tallied her team-leading fifth goal of the year, scoring off passes from Amy Speck and Caitlin Durkee.
Less than two minutes later, Samantha Baker extended the Hoyas lead to 3-0 by knocking in a loose ball in front of senior goalkeeper Kendie Bauer. Hudson and Stephanie Zare were credited with the assists on the play.
Bauer made a season-high five saves for the Tigers, who were outshot by an 18-7 margin. Junior forward Erica Marshall had four of the Tigers' seven shots in the loss.
The Tigers will continue their four-game road trip on Sunday afternoon when they face American University at 1 p.m.
