TOWSON, Md. - William & Mary hit .333 for the match and defeated the Tigers 3-0 on Friday night in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Tigers (8-17, 1-9 CAA) dropped their tenth straight despite Amanda Halls' seven kills and 11 digs on the night.
"We are stuck in a losing streak right now and it's proving hard to get over that hump," said Coach Paul Koncir. "We need to let go of the frustration and just play our game but we weren't able to do that tonight."
In the first set the Tribe (15-8, 7-2 CAA) jumped out to an early 10-5 lead before the Tigers closed to within one at 16-15. William & Mary would never relinquish the lead and claim a 25-21 victory in the first set. The Tribe took a 2-0 lead into the break with a 25-17 victory in the second set. William & Mary held the Tigers to a .030 hitting percentage in the third set and won 25-14.
Halls had seven kills and a team-high 11 digs in the match. Britney Loomis recorded a match-high 10 kills while Evan Schulz finished with 22 assists. Missy Rohrbaugh contributed 10 digs and will enter tomorrow's match just one dig shy of 1,000 for her career. Alysha Fanning hit .538 with seven kills and three digs for the Tigers.
Lindsay Kresch and Lauren Powell each contributed nine kills for the Tribe. Powell would add a match-high 14 digs while Kresch had five digs. Cassie Crumal contributed 30 assists, five digs and two blocks on the night. Lindsey Pflugner finished with nine digs on the night.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, October 31 in their final home match of the year against Virginia Commonwealth. Towson will take a moment to honor the seniors, Fanning and Rohrbaugh prior to the 7 p.m. start.
