Tigers Fall at Northeastern 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. - Kaela Barker had a pair of goals and an assist to lead Northeastern to a 3-0 win over the Tigers on Friday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association play. Towson (3-9, 0-5 CAA) got a career-high eight saves from Jamie Dowling in net.

"I thought Jamie played a great game and came up with some great saves to help keep the game close," said Coach Michelle Webber. "As a team I thought we came out a little flat and tried to pick it up later but it was a little too late."

Northeastern grabbed the early lead with a score just 6:20 into the game. Crystal Poland took a feed from Barker and knocked it home for her 11th goal of the season. That goal would be all the scoring in the first half as the Huskies took a 1-0 lead into the break.

Northeastern ended the half with an 8-5 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in penalty corners.

The Huskies extended their lead in the 51st minute as Barker scored off a backhand shot from 14 feet out. Barker would add her second goal of the game in the 67th minute.

Northeastern held a 13-1 advantage in shots in the second half and finished with a 21-6 advantage for the game. The Huskies had a 6-2 lead in corners in the second half and finished with a 10-3 margin for the game.

Dowling finished with eight saves including five in the second half. Lizzie Priest made four saves to preserve the shutout in goal for the Huskies.

The Tigers return to action on October 14 when they host Georgetown at 7 p.m.
