Towson vs. Air Force

February 28, 2009

Towson Coach Tony Seaman

(Opening comments)

“We needed a win today and we got a win. I think we played very well in the first quarter and the third quarter today. It gave us a chance to get a pretty good lead and get everyone on our team a chance to play, which is very important when you are in the higher elevation. We wanted to save some energy for tomorrow, which we did. But, it also allowed (Air Force) to get back into the game and we had to use our regular guys anyway. We needed a win and we got one. We couldn't be happier about that.”

(On Bill McCutcheon's 5-goal effort)

“He shot the ball very well today and he got some things going. Coach [Michael] Allan created some things to help him more and to allow him to get some opportunities. He was able to come through on that. He was more relaxed and together today. I thought he played very well and shot the ball very, very well.”

(On Brock Armour's scoring)

“We need Brock to score goals for us to win. There's no doubt about that.”

(On the extra-man opportunities)

“We just need some penalties to be called, so we can go on the extra man and then, we're dynamite. We got some chances and the two we didn't score on, we forced the ball. We're real happy with how they played today.”

(On Rob Wheeler's performance)

“I thought he was excellent all day today. I really thought Rob was on most of the balls today. He's so good at clearing the ball after making the save and he has established himself as our guy.”

(On playing Denver)

“We have to be able to handle the elevation. Hopefully, Sacred Heart wears them down a bit for us. We have to take care of our bodies and be ready to play. We're looking forward to the game.”

Towson Senior Attackman Bill McCutcheon

(On his performance)

“It felt great. I was really kind of lucky that the ball was going our way and I was able to get shots. I think we did a better job of coming out today and playing hard than we did against Loyola. We moved the ball a bit better and got some more looks at the goal. It just opened everyone up for some better looks at the goal.”

(On the extra-man unit)

“We need to capitalize. Any time we get a man up, we need to put the ball in the back of the net. I think we're very young, but we have a good group of guys on the extra-man unit. I think we will gel as a unit but it takes time. We need to have more chances in games and we need to be 50 per cent on the EMO to be successful.”

(On the altitude)

“We talked all week about staying hydrated and getting our legs under us. I don't think it was too bad. From an attack point of view, we were okay, but the midfielders were probably a bit more tired based on the play of the game. You felt it a bit in your lungs ? you are a mile high. It wasn't too bad and I thought we did a good job of preparing for this.”
