LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell used a goal and an assist from Morgan Kauffman to defeat the Tigers 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (1-2) playing for the first time in over a week got a goal from Mariah Schuette in the loss.
"We are a young team and today we just didn't capitalize on our opportunities," said Coach Michelle Webber. "Hopefully we can learn from today and take advantage of those opportunities for the rest of the season.
Towson grabbed the early lead in the game as Schuette scored in the 22nd minute off a rebound from Katie DeFilippo's shot.
The Bison (3-1) tied the game in the 31st minute as Megan Krebs scored off an assist from Kauffman. The two teams headed into the half knotted at 1-1 with Towson holding a 9-8 advantage in the shot column.
The Tigers had a chance to take the lead in the second half as Christina Boarman was awarded a penalty stroke in the 56th minute but the ball just hit the post and slid wide.
Kauffman scored the game-winner in the 62nd minute as Kauffman scored off a rebound.
Jamie Dowling made seven saves in net for the Tigers. Jessie Atieh made six saves to earn the win for the Bison.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, September 9 when they travel to La Salle University. Game time in Philadelphia is set for 4 p.m..
