DeFilippo Lifts Tigers to a 3-2 Overtime Win

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Katie DeFilippo's overtime goal lifted the Tigers past Georgetown, 3-2 in overtime on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (7-8) won their second straight game as DeFilippo had her second game-winner of the season.

"I'm pleased to get the win today cause the team really battled hard for the win," said Coach Michelle Webber.

Kristie Blumer gave the Tigers an early lead in the contest as she scored her sixth goal of the season at 3:01 off a rebound.

Georgetown scored back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 lead in the game. Claire Mittermiller tucked a shot into the right side of the net at 9:26 to tie the game at 1-1. The Hoyas took the lead at 11:00 as Catherine Shugrue scored off an assist from Annika Bannon.

The home team held a 2-1 lead in the game despite being outshot by the Tigers 7-5 in first half.

At 56:33, the Tigers got the game-tying goal off the stick of Tabi Hatch. It was Hatch's sixth goal of the year and third in the last two games.

The Tigers held a 20-11 advantage in shots at the end of regulation.

Just 1:13 into overtime, DeFilippo scored the game-winner. The junior forward hit a shot into the right hand side of the net past a sliding goalkeeper.

Whitney Clugston made five saves to earn the win in goal for the Tigers. Briana Pereira made 10 saves in the loss for the Hoyas.

Towson finished the game with a 21-11 advantage in shots and a 9-5 edge in penalty corners.

The Tigers return home on Friday, October 22 when they host Delaware at 6 p.m.
