Budner Leads Tigers Past George Mason, 208-92

FAIRFAX, Va. - Senior Meredith Budner won three individual events to lead the Tiger women's swimming and diving team to its second straight win, a 208-92 Colonial Athletic Association victory over George Mason University at the Jim McKay Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Tigers improved to 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the CAA this season.

Budner earned first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:17.13 before placing first in the 100-yard backstroke by completing the event in 57.96 seconds. She also earned a win in the 400-yard individual medley by turning in a time of 4:31.52.

Freshman Kaitlin Burke also earned a pair of victories in the win over the Patriots, taking first place in the 50-yard freestyle (24.48) and 100-yard freestyle (1:53.19).

Senior Brooke Golden swept the butterfly events by turning in a time of 58.68 seconds in the 100-yard event along with a time of 2:06.67 in the 200-yard event.

Junior Maggie Macedonia took first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.35 while senior Kayla Zeller was first in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5 minutes, 2.71 seconds.

Junior Caroline Baker, the CAA Diver of the Week, won both diving events. She scored 259.88 points in the three-meter event before tallying 279.07 points in the one-meter event.

The Tigers also claimed first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:35.68.

The Tigers continue their four-meet road trip next Saturday with a double dual meet at James Madison against the host Dukes and Loyola.
