TOWSON, Md. – Tickets for the highly-anticipated NCAA FCS Playoff game between Towson University and Lehigh University at Minnegan Field at Johnny Unitas® Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. have been sold out, it has been announced by Director of Athletics Mike Waddell.
“This continues to be a watershed season for our Towson football program,” said Waddell. “Already this season, the Towson faithful has shown their pride and support by breaking records for attendance all season long."
Waddell added, "This community, the students, and the faculty and staff have brought a new level of excitement to a campus that is bursting at the seams to show not only Baltimore, but the entire nation what Towson University is all about.”
Fans are encouraged to arrive on campus at least 90 minutes before kickoff to avoid delays in accessing Unitas Stadium. Tailgating lots open at 11:30 a.m. for parking pass holders in Lot 11, Lot 13, Lot 14 and Lot 21 with all other lots opening at 12:30 p.m.
“Once again it's time for Tiger Nation to come early, be loud and wear black to support our championship team.” added Waddell.
For fans wanting to watch the game, it will be available to watch the telecast on ESPN3 (internet) or ESPN Game Plan (TV) via their internet, cable or satellite provider.
The radio broadcast of the game can be heard on WNST-AM 1570 or via the internet at TowsonTigers.com and WNST.net.
The last time any sporting event sold out at Towson University was on November 24, 1997 when Towson hosted the University of Michigan in a men's basketball game. Tickets were still being sold on the day of the game before it was declared a sellout and a total of 5,086 fans viewed the game in the Towson Center Arena.
Towson football's sellout marks the largest crowd to attend a college football game in Johnny Unitas® Stadium history. The previous record was set on Sept. 22, 2007 when the Tigers played host to Delaware.
All fans attending the NCAA FCS Football Playoff game between Towson University and Lehigh University can bring their football ticket from the game to the ticket window at the Towson Center later that evening to receive complimentary admission to the Tigers' men's basketball game at 7:30 p.m. vs. George Mason University.
