WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Junior Kacy Catanzaro finished first on vault, bars and balance beam as the Tigers (16-1) edged the College of William & Mary in a dual meet on Wednesday night.

The Tigers won the meet with a 191.950 team score while the Tribe had a 190.875 score.

Catanzaro led the Tigers to a 48.10 team score on vault as she finished first with a 9.775 score. On the bars, she finished first with another 9.775 score.

After the Tigers endured a sub-par performance on the floor, Catanzaro helped the Tigers clinch the win as she took first on beam with a 9.75 score.

"Kacy had a tremendous meet for us," said Coach Vicki Chliszczyk. "We needed to do well on beam after we struggled on floor. That was so uncharacteristic of this team. We've been outstanding on floor all season."

With sophomore Britney Russell sidelined with an ankle injury, the Tigers had a seasonal low 47.85 team score on floor exercise.

"We had a couple of falls and really struggled," said Chliszczyk. "But, it was good to see the way we came back and won the meet with a strong performance on beam."

The Tigers entered the third rotation with a lead of 0.375 points over the Tribe. Fortunately for the Tigers, William & Mary struggled on beam. So, the Tigers went into the final rotation with a lead of 1.45 points over the Tribe.

On the balance beam, junior Lindsay Poplaski led off and earned a 9.675 score. Senior Emily Hill came through with a 9.55 score before freshman Alexa Davis had a 9.475 score. Catanzaro's 9.75 score gave the Tigers a lift before freshman Sasa Golob clinched the victory with a 9.65 score.

While Catanzaro finished first on vault, senior Megan Wooden tied for fourth place with a 9.625 score. On bars, Davis tied for fourth place with a 9.575 score.

On beam, Poplaski was part of a three-way tie for second place.

Junior Avis Hixon won the floor exercise with a 9.75 score while Davis was part of a four-way tie for second place.

With a 37.825 all-around score, Poplaski tied for second place behind Melissa Cream of William & Mary, who had a 38.25 all-around.

The Tigers close out the regular season on Friday night when they host Rutgers and Yale in the Towson Center at 7:00 p.m.
