Tigers Drop 4-1 Decision at Georgetown

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior forward Cheyenne Skidmore scored a goal for the second straight game, but it wasn't enough as 20th-ranked Georgetown (3-0-0) erupted for four goals en route to a 4-1 non-conference victory over the Tigers (1-1-0) at North Kehoe Field on Friday afternoon.

While opening the season with three straight wins, the Hoyas have outscored their opponents by an 11-1 margin.

The Hoyas wasted little time in building an early lead by scoring twice in the opening eight minutes of the match. Senior midfielder Ingrid Wells gave Georgetown a 1-0 advantage at the 6:45 mark of the first half when she scored on a shot from the left side.

Just 21 seconds later, freshman midfielder Daphne Corboz upped the lead to 2-0 when she headed home a pass from senior forward Camille Trujillo.

But, the Tigers trimmed the advantage to 2-1 in the 27th minute when Skidmore scored her second goal of the season by converting a crossing pass from sophomore forward Emily Banes.

However, the Hoyas answered just over a minute later when Wells scored her second goal of the game off an assist from sophomore Alexa St. Martin, giving Georgetown a 3-1 lead at the intermission.

With 15:30 remaining, Corboz increased the Hoyas' cushion to 4-1 with her second goal of the game after a pass from senior midfielder Kelly D'Ambrisi.

Senior goalkeeper Jocelyn Papciak made six saves for the Tigers in 68 minutes before being replaced by freshman Erin Palmer, who had four saves in her college debut.

Junior goalkeeper Hanna Monson did not need to make a save in 81 minutes before being replaced by senior Elizabeth Hanna, who also did not make a save.

The Hoyas had a commanding 30-3 advantage in shots and a 13-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Tigers will continue their two-game road trip next Friday night when they travel to Delaware State for a 7 p.m. game against the Hornets.
