TOWSON, Md. – Jayla Caldwell was named Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the week following a brace against Bucknell at Tiger Field on Sunday.

The freshman from Ashburn, Va. is the second Tiger to win a CAA Player of the Week award this season joining high school teammate Teagan Gardner who took home CAA Defensive Player of the Week last week.

It is the first Rookie of the Week honor since Riley Matthews earned the honor in the first week of last season. The Tigers have had at least one Rookie of the Week honoree each of the past three seasons, one of two CAA teams to accomplish that feat.

Caldwell earned her award off a brace, with both goals coming from corners. Her first goal was from a header that she redirected into the lower 90. Her second goal came from a poor Bisons clearance that she chipped over the keeper.

Towson returns to Towson Field for a match against Navy on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.
