Tigers Rally for 2-1 Win at Delaware State

DOVER, Del. - Freshman midfielder Kaitlin Brooks scored the game-winning goal in the 100th minute as the Tigers (2-1-0) overcame a 1-0 deficit to earn a 2-1 overtime victory over Delaware State (0-4-1) at the Hornets' Alumni Stadium on Friday night.

Brooks, who scored the first goal of her college career, gave the Tigers the victory when she scored off a pass from freshman forward Sofia Read with 59 seconds remaining.

After a scoreless first half, the Hornets took a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute when freshman forward Chelsea Boursiquot scored the first goal of her college career with an unassisted marker past senior goalkeeper Jocelyn Papciak. It also marked the Hornets' first goal in five matches this season.

But, the Tigers rallied to tie the game with 15:45 remaining when sophomore forward Emily Banes scored off an assist from junior forward Cheyenne Skidmore.

Each team had a shot on goal in the overtime period before Brooks scored.

Papciak made five saves for the Tigers, who outshot Delaware State by a 13-9 margin. Freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Koslosky recorded five saves for the Hornets, who are winless in their last 15 games, dating back to last season.

The Tigers will return home on Sunday afternoon to host High Point at 1 p.m. in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Panthers earned a 3-2 victory over Loyola University Maryland on Friday night.
