| @Towson_FH Dealt 2-1 Setback To Hofstra Friday

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Towson field hockey team fell to the Hofstra Pride on Friday afternoon by a score of 2-1 at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium.

The Tigers (1-17, 0-6 CAA) were outshot 6-3 in the first half, and Hofstra tallied its first goal when Melissa McCarthy netted her fourth goal of the season 9:38 into the first half.

The Tigers answered back in the second half when Courtney Branco scored her sixth goal of the year nearly 11 minutes into the second period. Branco took a pass off the endline from Stevie Winchester and tipped the ball past Hofstra goalie Kaitlin De Turo to tie the game at 1-1. Branco's six goals are tied for the team lead and she led the team with four shots against the Pride.

Hofstra (7-10, 1-5 CAA) took the lead for good when Micaela Gallagher deflected a shot in front of the net for her sixth tally of the season, giving Hofstra the 2-1 advantage with 14:42 remaining in the game.

For the game, Tiger sophomore goalie Tashani Dickson made two saves. She entered the game leading the Colonial Athletic Association with 140.

De Turo made five saves for Hofstra. 

The Tigers will play their regular season finale Sunday at Northeastern at 2 p.m. on the campus of Harvard University.
