Inside the Box Score: Navy

Starting Stronger - After trailing at the half in each of the first three games of the season, Towson has now led at the intermission in each of the last two games. The Tigers turned a narrow 5-4 lead at the break against Mount St. Mary's into a 10-8 victory. However, Navy responded from a 2-1 halftime deficit and scored five straight goals in the third quarter to grab control of the game.

Senior Stepping It Up - Towson senior co-captain Carl Iacona scored just three goals in 2011 after posting 11 as a sophomore in 2010. Entering the Navy game, Iacona had one tally on the year, but the midfielder was the only Tiger to score twice in the game against the Midshipmen. Iacona got Towson on the board first late in the opening quarter and he scored again in the fourth period.

Stingy Defense - Towson held Navy to just one goal in the first half, marking the lowest goals allowed for the Tigers in any half this season. Against Jacksonville in the season opener Towson let in just three goals in the second half, its prior lowest total goals allowed in a half this season. The Tigers also did not allow a goal in the second quarter. That marked the first time all season that Towson did not allow a score in a single quarter.

Fire Away - For the first time in four games, Towson outshot its opponent Tuesday. The Tigers owned a 30-25 shot advantage overall and that included a 12-6 edge in the fourth quarter.

Turn Them Over - The Tigers forced a season-high 19 turnovers against Navy Tuesday. The prior season best came on March 3 when Towson pressured Mount St. Mary's into 15 miscues. Of the 19 Midshipmen turnovers, 11 of them were directly caused by Towson. Sophomore John Fennessy set a new career-high with three caused turnovers to lead the Tigers while John Kenyon, Andrew Wascavage and JoJo Ostrander caused two each. Kenyon now has 31 career caused turnovers to become just the ninth player in school history with at least 30.

Split Decision - For the third straight game, junior Andrew Wascavage and senior Travis Love split time in goal. Wascavage allowed just one goal while facing eight shots and making three saves. Love let in nine goals while facing 17 shots and recording four saves.

Lucky Number 13 - Through the Tigers' first five games, the scoring production has been spread out as 13 players have tallied a point after junior Matt Thomas picked up his first of the year after assisting on Matt Lamon's goal in the third quarter. Of the 13 players who have recorded at least one point, 11 of them have scored a goal while nine different players have at least one assist.

Double Up - With a two-goal game Tuesday, senior Carl Iacona now has eight career multi-goal games. Of those eight multi-goal games, Iacona has twice posted three goals in a single game.

Elite Eight - With a goal against Navy, senior attackman Sean Maguire extended his point-scoring streak to eight straight games. During the eight-game point streak, the Lutherville, Md. native has tallied 11 goals with 6 assists.

Lamon Turning It On - After being held without a point in each of his first three games this season, senior attackman Matt Lamon has started to step up his play. After scoring a goal against Navy, the senior now has three goals and an assist in his last two outings.

All Clear
-
After converting just 12 of 21 clears in their last game against Mount St. Mary's, the Tigers were a perfect 16-for-16 in clear opportunities against the Midshipmen.
