Inside the Box Score: Stony Brook

Familiar Final  - After dropping the first 11 games in program history in which the final score was 10-9, Towson has now won seven of the last 10 games with a 10-9 final. It took a four overtime thriller at Villanova in 2005 to break the bizzare losing streak. Oddly, in 2010, four of Towson's seven wins were 10-9 decisions.

Seventh Heaven  - For just the second time this season, the Tigers scored seven goals in a half against Stony Brook Saturday. The Tigers scored three goals in the first quarter and four in the second, taking a 7-4 lead into halftime.  The Tigers scored seven goals in the second half in the season opener at Jacksonville, a 12-10 win. The Tigers are now 2-0 when scoring at least seven goals in a half this season.

Three's Company – The Tigers had a trio of players all score two goals against the Seawolves, including senior co-captain Carl Iacona, Matt Hughes and Andrew Hodgson. It was the third time this season Towson has had three players score two or more goals. The Tigers improved to 3-0 in those games.

Nine is Fine – Senior attackman Sean Maguire had a goal and an assist in the victory and now has a point in nine consecutive games dating back to last season. Maguire entered the game against Stony Brook as the team's leading scorer and now has 13 points in Towson's six games this season.

Facing the Best – Junior Ian Mills had a career-best 17 faceoff victories in 23 chances Saturday, smashing his previous career-high of seven faceoff wins. Mills took every faceoff for Towson in the victory and is now 29-for-44 in faceoffs this season. His 65.9 faceoff win percentage leads the team. Mills also set a career-high with 12 ground balls.

Double Digit Dominance – The Tigers have now scored 10 or more goals in three games this season, all Towson victories. The Tigers scored 12 goals in a win over Jacksonville Feb. 11 and also scored 10 goals in a win over Mount St. Mary's March 3.

Wascavage's Way – Junior goalkeeper Andrew Wascavage tied a career-high with 11 saves against Stony Brook en route to earning the victory. Wascavage also collected 11 saves against Johns Hopkins and has now played more minutes (255:00) in 2012 than in his first two seasons (103:28) combined. He now has 47 saves this season.

Nothing Like Your First – Towson freshman midfielder Greg Cuccinello recorded the first two points of his career in Saturday's win, notching a pair of assists in the first half. He assisted on goals by Sean Maguire and Michael Brashears.
