Tigers Ranked in Both Coaches and Media Polls

TOWSON, Md. – Off to a 3-0 start to the season, including an upset win at No. 12 Loyola, the Towson University women's lacrosse team finds itself ranked in both the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Poll and the deBeer Media Inside Lacrosse Poll this week. Towson is ranked 19th in the IWLCA poll and 20th in the deBeer poll.

Coach Sonia LaMonica's Tigers are ranked in the polls for the first time since the first week of March last season.

Towson has relied on a balanced scoring offense and a strong defensive presence this season. Ten Tigers have scored at least one goal this season, led by sophomores Andi Raymond and Ashleigh Rohrback. The Tigers enter play this week with the number one scoring defense in the nation. Towson is surrendering just 4.67 goals per game. Leading the defense for the Tigers is senior goalkeeper Mary Teeters. Teeters, the current Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week, is the national leader in goals against average (4.72) and save percentage (.682).

The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, Mar. 7 when they travel to Johns Hopkins. That game at Homewood Field is set for first draw at 5 p.m. and can be seen on ESPNU. The Tigers return home on Mar. 10 to host George Washington 1 p.m.
