PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Lindsay McArdle scored two goals and goalkeeper Jantien Gunter made four saves, leading the Drexel Dragons to a 4-0 shutout of the Towson Tigers (1-16) on Sunday afternoon at Buckley Field in Philadelphia. The loss ends the season for the Tigers.
The Dragons (13-6, 4-2) scored their first goal at 15:01 of the first half when Rachel Sumfest scored an unassisted tally to give Drexel a 1-0 lead.
McArdle then scored two goals 5:56 apart later in the half to give Drexel a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
Towson goalkeeper Brittany Varacallo made eight saves in the first half for the Tigers.
The Tigers attempted four shots in the game, but were unable to solve the Drexel defense. The Dragons added their final goal when Danielle Grassi scored with less than 30 minutes remaining in the game.
For the season, seniors Kathleen Morris and Kate Williams led the Tigers with three goals. Morris scored a team-high eight points, while eight different players scored points for Towson.
Varacallo finished the season with 109 saves and a .712 save percentage in 15 games.
