KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Junior Matt Lowe set a season-best in the 1,650-yard freestyle event on Saturday of the 2013 AT&T Winter Nationals held on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
Lowe swam a time of 15:49.09 to place 19th in the event and impress his head coach in the process.
"Today was our best day of the meet," Towson Head Coach Pat Mead said. "The team attacked its races with confidence and a belief that they could do something exceptional. So many coaches commented on how many swimmers we had qualify this year. However, I often responded to them qualifying for the meet is nice, but performing at the meet is the real challenge. We accomplished that goal and it was fun."
Sophomore Matt McKenney also competed in an event on Saturday, swimming the 200-yard butterfly in 1:51.79 to place 36th.
Towson has now completed competition for the semester.
