Swim & Dive Open 2025-26 Season Against LaSalle

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's and women's swimming and diving teams begin their 2025-26 seasons Saturday, September 27 as the Tigers host LaSalle for a dual meet at Burdick Pool. The meet will begin with the dive events at 10 a.m. followed by the swimming events at noon.
 
The Season Ahead:
The Towson men enter the season off a 4th place finish in the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championships. The Tiger's top returners include senior Sean Colson, who won gold, silver, and bronze medals at the conference championships last season; and sophomore Anthony Mortellite who was a CAA Swimmer of the Week and CAA Rookie of the Month as a freshman. Towson also brings back a 2024 CAA Diver of the Week in Aidan Clark as well as juniors Stephen McDonald and Benjamin Eischeid, sophomore Geoffrey Cradock, and Seniors Daniel McLaughlin and David Walton who all posted top 10 times in school history in their respective events this past season.
 
The Tiger women head into the new season after placing 5th at the CAA Championships in March. The top returners are highlighted by senior diver Shannon Parrau who won silver on both boards at the conference championships and was a three-time CAA Diver of the Week. Towson also brings back sophomore Bjartey Gudmundsdottir and junior Riley Willett who were members of the 200 free relay team that won silver at CAAs and set a new Towson record in the event. Willett also broke the school record in the 100 IM last season while Gudmundsdottir swam the second fasted 50 free in school history.
 
Meet the Newcomers:
Towson welcomes 17 newcomers to the swim & dive program this season including 11 new men's athletes and six new additions to the women's team.
The new men's arrivals begin with six transfers starting with sophomore backstroke specialist Nathan Decker who is a Maryland Native and joins the Tigers after spending his freshman season at Utah.

Harry Herrera heads to Towson after three seasons at Indiana primarily swimming breaststroke. The senior was invited to the 2024 US Olympic Team trials and swam a personal best 54.16 in the 100 breast last season.

Jake Wade is a Towson, Maryland native who spent the past two seasons as a freestyle specialist at Niagara where he helped set the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record in the 200 free relay in 2025.

Jed Garner is a junior who joins Towson from Tennessee where he spent his first two collegiate seasons. The Maryland native qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100 and 200 breast last season and placed 5th in the 200 breast at the 2025 SEC Championships.

Zachary Rothman comes to Towson after spending his freshman season at American where he was named the American University Swim & Dive Rookie of the Year. The Cornwall, New York native swam the fourth fastest 1650 free and eighth fastest 500 free in American University history.

Christian Davidson spent the past two seasons at McKendree University where he primarily swam distance freestyle events. The South Africa International placed 3rd in the 1650 free and 5th in the 1000 free at the 2025 NCAA D-II Championships.

The rookie additions begin with Jackson Cummins who won three state championships with St. Augustine Prep in Woodbury, N.J. specializing in backstroke and IM.

Asher Allebach comes from Cornelius, North Carolina where he primarily swam freestyle and IM for Pine Lake Prep High School and SwimMAC Carolina.

Owen Cather is a Reston, Virginia native who earned four varsity letters at Briar Woods High School where he holds records in the 100 back and 200 IM.
Cather also won three Loudoun County Invitational titles and two Region 5D titles.

Isak Brkanovic is a freestyler hailing from Albany, New York where he holds eleven home pool varsity records at Guilderland High School. The Junior Winter National Qualifier was a 2025 All-American in the 50 free and holds the section two record in the event.

Owen Cromer is a freestyle and fly specialist who comes to Towson from Hanover, Pennsylvania. The rising freshman swam for South Western High School and Seahorse Swim Team.

For the women, Megan Unruh is the lone transfer addition as she joins after two seasons at Houston primarily swimming freestyle and fly. The junior was a part of the 6th place 800 free relay team at the 2024 Big XII Conference Championships where she also placed top 30 in the 100 and 200 free.

The new rookies include Emily Thornett, an Ijamsville, Maryland native who specialized swimming backstroke and fly for Monocacy Aquatic Club for whom she placed 4th in the 100 fly and 2nd in the 400 medley relay at the 2025 Maryland Long Course Championships.

Lucy Nicholson is a freestyle specialist who hails from Crozet, Virginia. She captained Western Albemarle High School to back-to-back state championships in 2024-25 and holds school records in the 500 free, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay.

Ava McKinney is a freestyle and backstroke specialist from Richmond, Virginia who comes to Towson after swimming for Mills E. Godwin High School and Nova of Virginia Aquatics.

Kaitlyn Besner heads to Towson from Pincourt in Quebec, Canada where she primarily swam freestyle and fly for Pointe-Claire Swim Club. Besner has qualified for the Canada Trials in each of the past four years.

Emelia Erikson comes to Towson from Horsham, Pennsylvania where she swam for Hatboro Horsham Senior High School and Upper Dublin Aquatic Club. The Freestyle and breaststroke specialist was a four-time All-American, 11-time All-State and 14-time All-District honoree.
 
Scouting the Opponent:
The LaSalle men's team enter the new season after finishing 5th at the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championships. The explorers return senior Swede Felix Jedbratt who placed second in the 100 free at conference championships as well as junior Carter Perkins who came in 7th. Jebratt and Perkins were both in the 400 free relay team that placed third at the event. Also at the A-10 Championships, returning junior Andrea Savoca took silver in the 200 breast.
The Explorers Women's team start the 2025-26 season after an 8th place finish at the A-10 Conference Championships. Senior Gabriela Herbreder returns after setting five LaSalle records at the conference championships (100 breast, 200 breast, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 800 free relay). The Poland international won silver in the 100 breast and bronze in both 200 yard relays.
