TOWSON, Md. – Towson University swimmer
Jed Garner and Towson swimming & diving alum and current director of operations Brian Benzing competed in the USA Swimming 2026 Toyota National Championships this week. The meet took place at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, California from Tuesday, July 28 until Saturday, August 1.
Jed Garner first swam in the 200m breaststroke on Wednesday, the rising senior was in seventh overall (2:11.68) after seven preliminary heats qualifying him for the A-final later that evening. In the championship heat, Garner again finished seventh with a time of 2:11.20.
Brian Benzing's meet started with the 50m breaststroke on Thursday. After nine preliminary heats Benzing qualified for the A-final finishing in seventh place overall with a time of 27.42. He went on to swim 27.57 in the championship to once again place seventh.
Both Garner and Benzing swam in the 100m breaststroke on Friday. Out of nine preliminary heats, Garner swam 1:00.99 to earn a spot in the B-final, and Benzing would finish 23
rd overall with a time of 1:01.54. Garner went on to place second in the B-final with a time of 1:00.76.
