MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Facing top-notch competition in a quad meet at West Virginia University, the Tigers posted their second-highest score of the season as the Tigers earned a 193.150 score while losing to No. 3 Michigan, No. 25 West Virginia and New Hampshire.

Led by Katie Zurales, Michigan won the meet with a 196.925 team score while West Virginia was second with a 196.250 score. New Hampshire finished third (194.800), just ahead of the Tigers.

The Tigers started the meet on floor exercise and came up with a 48.525 score as freshman Abby Griswold earned a 9.775 score while junior Alexa Davis came up with a 9.75 score. Senior Britney Russell had a 9.725 score on floor. Griswold finished 16th in the meet on floor.

On vault, the Tigers compiled a 48.55 team score, led by a 9.775 score from freshman Katie Sassa and a 9.75 from freshman Lydia Thompson. Freshman Samantha Ward contributed a 9.70 score. Sassa finished 13th in the meet.

Despite a 9.75 score by sophomore Samantha Lutz, the Tigers struggled on bars and had a 47.625 team mark. Lutz finished tenth in the meet while Davis was 14th with a 9.65 score.

On balance beam, the Tigers turned in their top effort of the season as they came up with a 48.125 score. Sophomore Lauren Ross, sophomore Janis Konkle, Davis and Griswold each had 9.70 scores for the Tigers to tie for 16th place. Freshman Erin Odom had a 9.65 score on beam.

Zurales led Michigan to the first place finish by finishing first on vault (9.925) beam (9.925).

Kaylyn Millick of West Virginia won the all-around competition with a 39.35 score.

Griswold, last week's East Atlantic Gymnastics League Rookie of the Week, finished fifth in the all-around competition with a career best 38.70 score.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday when join Yale and Brown at the New Hampshire Invitational.

FLOOR:  1. Kaylyn Millick (WVU), 9.95; Joanna Sampson (MICH), 9.95; 3. Alaska Richards (WVU), 9.925.
