Darius Victor of the Towson University football team each earned first team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors on Tuesday as the league announced its annual awards, which are voted on by the league's head coaches.
Only New Hampshire, the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoffs, had more first team all-league selections than Towson as the Wildcats had five.
A total of six Tigers were honored as junior punt returner
Donnell Lewis garnered second team honors and senior defensive tackle
Jon Desir was named to the All-CAA third team.
Delaire ranks second in the CAA and 13
th in the FCS with 11 sacks on the year. He also leads the Tigers and ranks fifth in the CAA with 14.5 tackles-for-loss. The Buck Buchanan Award finalist is third in the CAA among ends/linemen with 5.3 tackles per game and his three forced fumbles ranks eighth in the league. Delaire earns first team All-CAA honors for the second-straight season.
Smith routinely shut down one side of the field as one of the best cover corners in the nation. As the final cornerback standing on the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List earlier this season, Smith led the Tigers with eight pass break-ups. He started all 12 games during his senior season and his 85 tackles ranked second on the team. Smith ended his career with 312 tackles, the fifth most in Tiger football history. Smith was named third team All-CAA in 2012 and earned second team all-league honors last year.
Joseph, one of the most dynamic return specialists in CAA football history, earns all-league honors for the fourth straight year. The senior led the CAA rand ranked fourth in the FCS with 1,008 combined kickoff and punt return yards. He averaged 23.3 yards per kickoff return which led the CAA. Joseph, who was named second team All-CAA as a freshman in 2011 and garnered third team all-league honors in each of the last two seasons, posted five career return touchdowns. He's first all-time at Towson with four kickoff return touchdowns and he registered his first career punt return touchdown this season at Delaware State.
Victor, the 2013 CAA Offensive Rookie of the Year, led the CAA and ranked 15
th in the FCS with 1,305 rushing yards. It marked the most rushing yards for a sophomore in Towson football history. Victor also rushed for 12 touchdowns, which tied for the most in the CAA. Victor, who led the CAA with eight 100-yard rushing games, ranked second in the CAA and 18
th in the FCS by averaging 108.8 rushing yards per game. Victor ranks eighth all-time at Towson with 1,934 career rushing yards.
Lewis returned 11 punts for 40 yards, including a long of 23 yards. He also returned six kickoffs for 126 yards with a long of 38 yards. Desir was an anchor for Towson's front four. He ranked sixth on the team with 61 tackles.
