BOX SCORE TOWSON, Md. – The Towson women's soccer team struggled with a slow start in the 5-0 loss to No. 20 Georgetown on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Soccer Complex.

The Hoyas (3-0-1) scored three times in the first 10 minutes of the game – two in 36 seconds – to take an early 3-0 advantage. A pair of Daphne Corboz goals sandwiched a pair of tallies from Vanessa Skrumbis.

"We had a 30-minute period where we let our game plan and execution down,"remarked Head Coach Greg Paynter. "A good team like Georgetown is going to punish us, and they did. But I was impressed with the way we fought back and didn't give up. We used everybody, and we really put together a good defensive effort in the second half. We had a couple of really good chances. There's a lot of encouragement to come out of that. We had a lot of young players put in some good time against a good team."

The Tigers (1-2-1) recovered and pressured Georgetown late in the first, generating two good chances on a passing combo between seniors Katlyn Axenfeld and Sofia Read and, later, a free kick by Read and the resulting shot from freshman Maddie Bove that went wide.

Late in the second half, the Tigers found their groove. Junior Vasthy Delgado and senior Morgan Fraczkowski each forced saves out of Georgetown's Lauren Trower, who pushed each shot into the crossbar.

Sophomore Taylor Sebalao played well in relief of senior Erin Quinn, who took the loss. Sebalao played 23 minutes and made four saves, allowing no goals. Trower and starting Hoya keeper Emma Newins combined for the shutout.

Towson returns to action on Friday, Sept. 5 with Fairfield at the Tiger Soccer Complex at 3 p.m.
