BOX SCORE TOWSON, Md. – Towson University junior
Stacey Mackintosh scored her second goal of the season but it was not enough as the Tigers (1-5) fell to Rider (3-4) by a final score of 2-1.
Sophomore
Megan Boyle kept the game scoreless in the first half as she held strong and made a save on a penalty stroke that was awarded to Rider's
Dezarae Fillmyer in the 24
th minute.
Boyle recorded five saves as the Broncos outshot the Tigers 5-3 in the first half.
Rider took the lead in the first minute of the second half as
Allison Baligian tipped the ball in off an assist by
Laura McCormick.
McCormick added an unassisted goal in the 46
th minute for Rider as the ball deflected in off the post.
Towson responded quickly as Mackintosh scored a goal for the Tigers off of a rebound from sophomore
Allie Stauffer in the 50
th minute. Stauffer led the Tigers in shots with two.
Freshman
Emilee Woodall came in on relief action for the Tigers but was not forced to make a save in the final 15:56 of action.
The Broncos outshot the Tigers 9-3 in the second half as Rider finished the game with a 14-6 advantage.
Boyle made three second-half saves for a game total of eight saves.
Joelle Prettyman recorded two saves to earn the win for Rider.
Towson returns to action on Friday, September 26 at 3 p.m. as they travel to Longwood before returning home to face La Salle on Sunday, September 28 at 1 p.m.
