BOX SCORE FARMVILLE, Va. – The Towson University field hockey team (2-5) earned their second win of the season on Friday afternoon as they defeated Longwood (3-6) by a score of 3-2. The Tigers scored three second-half goals to earn the win.
The first half was scoreless for both teams as the Tigers outshot the Lancers 3-2. Towson freshman 
Baily Kerr recorded the only shot on goal for either team. Sophomore 
Megan Boyle did not have to make a save in the first-half.
The Tigers took the lead early in the second half as senior 
Kelly Mattingly picked up her second goal of the season in the 37th minute to give Towson a 1-0 lead.
Senior 
Courtney Branco added to the Towson advantage as she recorded her third goal of the season in the 41st minute.
Freshman 
Meg Stuart continued the scoring for the Tigers as she picked up her second goal of the season in the 46th minute.
Longwood's 
Hollie MacDonald recorded a goal for the Lancers off a penalty stroke in the 50th minute. The Lancers' 
Vanessa Tapper scored in the 58th minute to bring the score to 3-2 in Towson's advantage.
The Tigers stood strong in the final minutes of the game, stopping five shots by Longwood to earn their second win of the season.
Boyle recorded one save for the Tigers in the second half, her only save of the game. 
Lauren Bernard recorded two saves for Longwood.
Towson returns to action on Sunday, September 28th at 1 p.m. as they host La Salle.
