TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University gymnastics team welcomes the University of North Carolina, West Chester and William & Mary to SECU Arena for its home-opening "Gold Rush" meet on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 4:30 p.m.

The meet is the Tigers' first home meet of the season and fans are encouraged to wear gold to help support the team. Fans wearing gold are eligible to purchase a ticket discounted at $5.

Fans can also stop at the poster making station on the main concourse at SECU to meet Doc and create a sign to cheer on the Tigers. Towson gymnasts will be available to sign autographs after the meet.

Towson seniors
Lauren Ross and
Janis Konkle have started their final season off on a strong note. Ross tied her career-high beam score of 9.850 for the third time in her career last weekend at William & Mary. Konkle also tied a career-high on beam at the meet, recording a 9.800 for the second time in her career.

Freshman
Tyra McKellar has had an immediate impact for the Tigers. She has recorded a 9.700 or higher in five of her eight events this season and led the team on bars and beam in her collegiate debut in Missouri.

University of North Carolina enters this weekend after finishing second in a field of five teams at No. 19 George Washington's Lindsey Ferris Invitational. In their season- and home-opener, the Tar Heels were defeated by No. 12 Auburn University
. Morgan Lane earned East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Rookie of the Week honors after her performance at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational.

West Chester fell in their season-opener to Ursinus College before earning a victory over SUNY Cortland last weekend. The Golden Ram's
Selena Swanger was given the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Coaches Choice Award at the start of this week.

William & Mary defeated Towson last weekend to start its season at 1-0. The Tribe's
Larson Lasek was named ECAC Gymnast of the Week for her performance against the Tigers.

Towson will make the trip to Texas Women's University on Sunday, Feb. 1 for a quad-meet featuring San Jose State and Centenary.
