TOWSON, Md. – Behind a combined 34 points and 21 rebounds from seniors
LaTorri Hines-Allen and
Ciara Webb, the Towson University women's basketball team earned a 56-49 win over the University of Delaware on Friday night in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action. The Tigers (6-9, 2-1 CAA) won their second straight game while recording their first win over the Blue Hens since the 2009-10 season.

Dominique Johnson made it an 11-6 game with 13:54 left in the first stanza. A 9-2 run gave the Blue Hens (5-9, 0-3 CAA) a 15-13 lead with 9:35 to go in the half.
Hannah Jardine had four of the Blue Hens' nine. The two teams traded baskets as a three-pointer from Webb gave Towson a 21-17 advantage with 5:45 to play in the first half. Delaware scored nine of the final 14 points in the half and the two teams headed to the locker room tied at 26-26. Jardine had five of the nine markers including the game-tying three with two seconds left in the stanza.
Delaware shot 37% in the first half to the Tigers' 32.3%. Towson made four three-pointers to Delaware's two and held a 23-15 advantage in the rebounding battle. Jardine led all scorers with 11 first half points while Hines-Allen and Webb each had eight for the Tigers.
After surrendering the opening bucket of the second half to Delaware, Towson used an 11-0 run to take a 37-28 lead with 13:48 to play in the game. Johnson had four points for the Tigers in that run. The two teams continued to battle on each end of the court as a jumper from Hines-Allen at 10:58 put Towson ahead 41-32. A 12-6 run by the visitors allowed Delaware to cut the Towson lead to three, 47-44 with 4:57 to play. A pair of free throws from Hines-Allen and a lay-up from freshman guard
Markeema Crawford pushed the Towson lead back to seven, 51-44 with 3:49 to play. Delaware scored five of the next seven points which made it a 53-49 game with 1:02 to play. However, the Tigers went 3-for-4 from the foul line in the final minute to seal the 56-49 victory.
Towson shot 47.8% from the field in the second half and 38.9% for the game. Delaware was 11-for-29 (37.9%) from the field in the second half and finished the game shooting 37.5%. The Tigers made six three-pointers in the contest to Delaware's three. Towson won the rebounding battle for the second straight game, 39-31.
Hines-Allen finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds for her third straight double-double and eighth of the season. She also contributed three assists, five blocks and two steals. Webb had 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Johnson posted nine points and a team-high five assists. Crawford came off the bench to post six points.
Jardine led Delaware with 17 points and eight rebounds while
Courtni Green had 10 points.
Towson wraps up its three-game home stand on Sunday, Jan. 11 when it hosts Hofstra at 2 p.m. in SECU Arena.
