Tiger Tracks: The Tigers split their two matches last week, falling at James Madison before bouncing back for the win at Delaware. Junior
Jessica Lewis had a pair of double-doubles last week and posted 44 kills and 28 digs in the two matches combined. Freshman
Jocelyn Kuilan leads the squad on the season with 225 kills, a .319 hitting percentage, 21 service aces and 43 digs. Senior
Haley Pa'akaula is second on the squad with 214 kills and 194 digs. Redshirt senior
Aimee Schubert and fellow senior
Kyana Miller have split setting duties and have recorded 453 and 315 assists respectively. Redshirt freshman
Anna Holehouse anchors the defensive efforts with 295 digs while junior
Lindsay Flaherty has 46 blocks.
Scouting the Opponents: William & Mary enters Friday's contest looking to build on the momentum of its 3-1 win at Northeastern last time out.
Dessi Koleva leads the Tribe offense with 138 kills, 178 digs and 19 service aces.
Gabrielle Pe has dished out a team-high 237 assists while
Sara Zumbach has 220 digs.
Elon, looking to snap a three-match losing streak, will play host to James Madison on Friday night before welcoming the Tigers on Sunday.
Megan Gravley leads the Phoenix with 145 kills and 99 digs while
Sydney Busa has contributed 116 kills and 37 blocks.
Sydel Curry has 329 assists for Elon.
Series History: Towson and William & Mary will be meeting for the 33rd time in a series that began in 1976. The Tribe lead the series 17-15, however the Tigers won both meetings last season and six of the last eight contests between the two schools.
Sunday's contest will see the Tigers and Phoenix battle for the fifth time overall. Towson leads the all-time series 3-1 after posting a pair of 3-1 victories last season.
I'm honored: Redshirt freshman libero/defensive specialist
Anna Holehouse has been a key component of the Tigers defensive efforts this season and Monday she was honored for her play. Holehouse was named the CAA Rookie of the Week after posting 55 digs (5.50 digs per set) in two contests. Holehouse had a career/season-high 30 digs in the win over Delaware. She is the third Tiger to be honored by the CAA this season (
Haley Pa'akaula-POW,
Jocelyn Kuilan-ROW 2x).
Seeing Double: Four Tigers recorded double-double performances in Sunday's win over Delaware.
Jessica Lewis had 26 kills and 12 digs while
Haley Pa'akaula contributed 21 kills and 20 digs.
Aimee Schubert dished out 42 assists to go wtih 18 digs while
Kyana Miller posted 20 assists and 14 digs. It was the first time since 2006 that the Tigers had four players with double-doubles in the same match. That year
Alysha Fanning,
Maddie Haseltine,
Ally Perko and
Kimberly Snider did it in the first match of the season against the University of Houston.
20/20 Vision: Senior outside hitter
Haley Pa'akaula had a big match against the Blue Hens finishing with 21 kills and a career-high 20 digs. It was the first time since
April Hoffman in 2005 that the Tigers have had an outside hitter with 20+ kills and 20+ digs in the same match.
Up Next: Following this weekend's action, the Tigers return to SECU Arena for the first time since August 30. Towson will host Hofstra on Friday, Oct. 9 and Northeastern on Sunday, Oct. 11.
