Series History: Towson renews one of its longest running rivalries as Delaware comes to town. Wednesday's contest will be the 78th meeting all-time between the two schools. The Tigers hold a slim 39-38 edge in the match-up. Towson has won four straight in the series after battling for a 3-2 win when the two schools met in Newark earlier this season.
Searching for Number 20: A win Wednesday night would get the Tigers to the 20-win plateau for the season. It would mark the second straight season, the team has recorded 20 or more wins under Head coach
Don Metil and the 18th time in program history the Tigers have posted 20 or more wins in a single-season.
Can You Dig It? Redshirt freshman
Anna Holehouse has played a key role in the Tigers' defensive success this season. Through 22 matches, Holehouse has contributed 406 digs for an average of 4.72 digs per set. When Holehouse went over 400 digs against College of Charleston, it marked the 16th time in program history a Tiger had accomplished the feat. Holehouse ranked 20th in the nation as of Monday for total digs and 59th in digs per set.
Acing the Class: Another key to success this season for the Tigers has been their ability to serve up an ace when necessary. Through 22 matches this season, Towson has 134 service aces and is averaging 1.56 aces per set. The Tigers currently rank second in the CAA for aces per set. Seven Tigers have recorded 10 or more service aces this season. That group is led by freshmen
Jocelyn Kuilan and
Anna Holehouse who have recorded 29 and 24 service aces respectively.
Denied: Junior
Lindsay Flaherty has been a strong performer at the net for the Tigers throughout her career. Flaherty has a team-high 73 blocks this season which gives her 292 blocks for her career. Flaherty needs eight more blocks to become the 10th player in program history to record 300 or more blocks in her career. The school record for career blocks is 566 set by
Liz Goubeaux (2001-2004).
