TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's swimming and diving program is ranked ninth in CollegeSwimming.com's Division I Team Power Rankings Week One. The Tigers took the top spot on the Mid-Major Rankings.
Florida is the top team in the nation, followed by Alabama and Duke. South Carolina and Missouri rounded out the top five.
"Our plan this season was to compete against some of the best teams in the country early," Head coach
Pat Mead said. "I am proud of both our men's and women's teams. I hope prospects around the country take notice of how we are building our program. It is undoubtedly a great time to be a Towson Tiger."
The Tigers finished second at the Potomac Relays last weekend, placing in the top-three in all eight swimming events. Freshman
Jake Casey was the runner-up in both the one and three-meter diving events.
Towson opened its season at the All-Florida Invitational from Sept. 18-20, finishing third overall. The Tigers had 14 top-five finishes at the three-day meet, hosted by the University of Florida. Sophomore
Colin Roddy posted the Tigers' best finish, placing third in the 400-yard individual medley.
The Tigers head to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) rival William & Mary on Saturday, Oct. 11 for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
