Women's Swimming Travels To George Washington For Dual Meet

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson women's swimming and diving program travels to George Washington for a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. The meet will be held at the Charles E. Smith Center.
 
The Tigers enter the meet ranked 10th in CollegeSwimming.com's Mid-Major Power Rankings.
 
Towson is coming off a sweep of the George Mason POD Meet, earning three dual meet victories. The Tigers defeated the host Patriots 219-132, Drexel 227-126 and Northeastern 231-122.
 
The Tigers won nine events and had 26 top-three finishes over the course of the two-day meet.
 
Freshman Ashley Illenye was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Swimmer of the Week for her performance at the POD meet. She swam lifetime bests to win both the 200-yard butterfly and 1650-yard freestyle. She also won the 500-yard freestyle and swam the lead leg on the runner-up 400-yard freestyle relay.  
 
Senior Natalie Szopo finished second in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events.
 
The Tigers will compete next at the Pittsburgh Invite from Nov. 20-22. The meet will be held at the Trees Pool and feature eight schools.
