Torrid Towson Pumped For FDU Trip

TOWSON, Md. – After a 10-day layoff, the Towson University men's basketball team returns to action when it travels up the New Jersey Turnpike to face Fairleigh Dickinson. The red-hot Tigers (7-3 overall) have won six consecutive games, including their last two road contests. This contest begins a quick three-game in five-day stretch for Towson before Christmas.

vs. FDU
The Tigers and Knights have met four times with FDU holding a 3-1 edge in the series. The Knights have won two straight games. Towson's only win over FDU was an 80-66 decision on Dec. 5, 1979.
 
Last Time vs. FDU
Towson got a career- high 27-points from Four McGlynn in a heartbreaking 85-84 overtime loss to Fairleigh Dickinson last season. FDU overcame a 16-point deficit to claim the victory. John Davis and Timajh Parker-Rivera scored 15 points each in the setback.
 
Scouting FDU
The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team earned a 91-89 overtime victory at Lafayette last Wednesday.   Redshirt junior Tyrone O'Garro banked in a shot with three seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 74-74 and force overtime. Darian Anderson scored 23 points and classmates Earl Potts Jr. (20), Marques Townes (18) and Stephan Jiggetts (10) joined him in double-digits. Townes also grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds to record his first career double-double. Potts Jr leads the Knights with a 16.2 point per game scoring average. He has scored 20 or more points in two consecutive games for FDU. He scored a career-high 29 points at Temple. Potts has scored in double figures seven of FDU's nine games. Potts has shot an efficient 51.0 percent from the field this season. Anderson has scored 20 or more points three times season. FDU has allowed 80 or more points five times this season. The Knights are also being outrebounded by 7.8 per game. They average 9.0 steals per game as a team and force 16.4 turnovers per contest.
 
Streaking
This is the third straight season that Towson has enjoyed a regular season winning streak of at least six games. In each of the last two season's Towson's longest winning streak was seven games.
 
High Five
Towson put five players in double figures in victories over Gallaudet (Mike Morsell 16 points, Arnaud William Adala Moto 14, Jordan McNeill 14, Timajh Parker-Rivera 13, Byron Hawkins 13), Sacred Heart (Adala Moto 16, Walter Foster 15, Morsell 11, Parker-Rivera 11, John Davis 10) and Loyola (Hawkins 15, Adala Moto 13, Keith II 12, Morsell 11, Foster 10).  It marked the sixth time in the last three seasons Towson had five players score in double figures in a single game. Three of those times have occurred during Towson's current six-game winning streak.
 
Fantastic Foster
In each of his last two games, Foster has established a career-high in a different category. He scored 15 points in the win over Sacred Heart. Against Loyola, Foster notched his fourth career double-double with 10 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots. The rebounds and blocked shots were career bests for Foster. He is averaging 7.3 points and 5.7 rebounds during the Tigers' current winning streak.
 
Time Changes
Towson has had the times of two of its games changed. The Tigers' CAA opener at William & Mary is now a 1 p.m. start. Towson's Feb. 20 home game has been adjusted to 12 p.m. and added to the CAA's TV package. The Elon-Towson game will air on Comcast SportsNet. It will be the seventh TV game this season for Towson and the sixth from SECU Arena.
 
Leaders of the Pack
Towson leads the CAA in scoring defense (63.5 points per game), blocked shots per game (5.2) and rebounding (41.4). The Tigers are second in the conference in rebounding margin (+7.8). Nationally, Towson is ninth in offensive rebounding (15.9 rpg.), 38th in rebounding margin, 39th in scoring defense and 46th in blocked shots.
 
"Roar The Merrier" Clothing Drive/Up Next
Senior guard Dominique Johnson of the Towson women's basketball team is trying to make the holidays a little bit better for some of the less fortunate in Baltimore by hosting a "The Roar The Merrier" clothing drive. Johnson is looking for coats, sweaters and gently used clothing that could be given to the homeless in Baltimore before the Christmas holiday. Donations will be accepted at the Tiger women's and men's basketball doubleheader on Sunday, Dec. 20. The Tiger women face Auburn at 2 p.m. in SECU Arena with the men to follow against Rio Grande at 4:30 p.m. Donations will also be accepted at the neutral site contest between Auburn/Coppin State in SECU Arena on Saturday, Dec. 19.
