TOWSON, Md. –
Shatia Cole hit a jumper with two seconds left in overtime to lift UNC Wilmington to a 73-71 win over the Towson University women's basketball team on Sunday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. Five Tigers scored in double figures in the heartbreaker on senior day.
The game was a back-and-forth affair that featured nine ties and 13 lead changes.
The two teams went back and forth from the opening jump ball. A
Ryan Flowers' jumper at 14:03 gave UNCW a 10-9 lead. Towson scored seven of the next nine points and took a 16-12 lead with 12 minutes remaining in the half. Junior guard

Breonn Hughey gave Towson a 26-19 advantage with 7:11 showing on the clock. The Seahawks scored 11 of the game's next 14 points and took a 30-29 lead with 1:08 to go in the half. Cole recorded seven of UNCW's 11 during that run. Towson scored the final five points of the half and took a 34-30 lead at the break.
Towson shot 31.4% in the first half while UNCW posted a 36.4 field goal percentage. Towson hit five first half three-pointers while both teams were perfect from the foul line. UNCW led the rebounding battle 26-18. Senior forward

A pair of free throws from redshirt senior forward
LaTorri Hines-Allen had a pair of free throws to start the second half and push the Tigers' lead to 36-30 with 19:52. The Seahawks used a 15-5 run to take a 45-41 lead with 12:07 left in regulation.
Kelva Atkins scored six for UNCW during that stretch. Towson scored four straight points and tied the game at 45-45 with 8:44 left to play. The Seahawks used a 6-2 run to take a 51-47 lead with 6:18 showing on the clock. Flowers had four of the six points. The two teams traded points at the foul line before Atkins hit one-of-two from the charity stripe at 3:05 which gave the visitors a 54-49 lead. A 9-2 run gave Towson a 58-56 lead with 23 seconds to play. Hines-Allen had four points during that stretch. After a UNCW missed shot, the Tigers missed the front end of a one-and-one situation and the Seahawks pulled down the rebound. Cole connected on a lay-up with five seconds left in regulation which tied the game at 58-58.
UNCW shot 34.5% in the second half while the Tigers shot just 25.9%. The Seahawks held a 23-20 advantage in the rebounding battle during the second stanza. Hines-Allen had 10 second-half points and seven rebounds.
Towson scored seven of the first 12 points in overtime and led 65-63 with 3:31 to go. Johnson had four of the Tigers' seven while Hughey had the other three.
Brie Mobley started a 7-2 run by the Seahawks which gave the visitors a 70-67 advantage with 1:28 left in overtime. Mobley had four of the Seahawks' seven during that stretch. The two teams battled as UNCW led 71-69 with 19 seconds to play. Webb grabbed a defensive rebound and went the length of the court for a basket that tied the game at 71-71 with 11 seconds left. Following a timeout, UNCW was able to break through the Tiger defense and Cole got off what proved to be the game-winning shot with two seconds left.
UNCW shot 50% from the field in overtime and finished the game shooting 37.8%. Towson shot 80% in overtime and 32.8% for the game. The Seahawks won the rebounding battle, 54-41.
Hines-Allen had 16 points and 15 rebounds as she posted her 13
th double-double of the year for the Tigers. Johnson tied Hines-Allen for the team lead in points with 16. Webb had 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Cole had a game-high 20 points for UNCW while Flowers had 10 points and 16 rebounds.
Towson returns to action on Sunday, March 1 when the Tigers travel to Drexel for a 3 p.m. game.
