WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Marshall scored five runs over the final two innings to erase four-run deficit and rally to beat Towson, 7-6, Saturday afternoon at Wake Forest Baseball Park.
Trailing by one heading to the ninth, Marshall () started the inning with back-to-back singles that were aided by an error to put runners on second and third. Corey Bird tied the game with a single through the right side, ahead of a Sergio Leon sacrifice bunt that plated the game-winning run.
Towson (0-6) jumped out to an early lead as they plated five runs in the first inning. Brad Bowles started the scoring with an RBI double down the left-field line.

A.J. Gallo would each follow with RBI singles in the frame.
The Tigers extended their lead in the second as Bowles delivered an RBI single to center field. The hit scored
Chris Ruszin, who walked and advanced to second on a passed ball.
Tiger left-hander Bruce Zimmerman had a strong outing on the mound as he gave up just two runs and struck out four over six innings.
The Thundering Herd got to the Tigers bullpen in the eighth inning, pushing across three runs with a rally that started with two outs. A pair of walks around a base hit loaded the bases. Josh King drove in two runs with a base hit and Austin Norman followed with an RBI single of his own.
Fernando Guerrero (1-0) picked up the victory, allowing just one hit over two shutout innings.
Garrett Walther (0-2) took the loss after giving up two runs in one-third of an inning.
Sutton led the offense with three hits, while Policelli and Bowles each added two hits.
The Tigers close out the weekend Sunday at 11:30 a.m. against Wake Forest.
