WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The Towson women's golf team fired its second best round of the spring season as play wrapped up at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers shot a 311, the fourth best score among the 16-team field during the third round of play. Towson's only better round this spring came when the Tigers carded a 302 during the third round of the Kiawah Island Spring Classic on March 3.
Despite the solid third round, Towson finished 10th overall with a 54-hole score of 964 (319-334-311). Eastern Michigan (312-304-301=917) narrowly edged Delaware (302-306-310=918) for the team title.
Towson had two individuals finish among the Top 25 in the field of 89 players.
Alexis Hios remained remarkably consistent, carding 78's during all three rounds to finish tied for 18th overall with a 234.
Larissa Spiess shot an 82 on Tuesday to fall back to a tie for 22nd overall with a 235 (74-79-82).
Mackenzie Rice (75) and
Krissy Unger (76) both shot their best rounds of the tournament during the final day.
The Tigers are back in action April 11-12 at the River Landing Classic. It will be Towson's final tune-up before the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, which begin on April 17.
