PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Towson University women's gymnastics team had three first-place finished to place second with 193.125 points at the Brown tri meet on Sunday afternoon. The host Bears narrowly edged the Tigers for the win, finishing with 193.400 points. Lindenwood wrapped up the team scoring in third-place with 192.775 points.

The Tigers (10-11) recorded the highest team scores on vault (48.300) and tied with Lindenwood for the highest-team score on bars (48.525).

Towson had gymnasts win three events at the meet; bars, beam and all-around.

Tyra McKellar finished first-overall on bars with a 9.825 total.
Vicki Vesecky had the Tigers' second-highest score, earning 9.725. Her score tied for fifth-overall for the event.
Samantha Lutz and
Lydia Thompson had matching 9.700 scores for the Tigers.

McKellar also won the all-around with a total of 38.850 points.

Lauren Ross earned a first-place finish on beam, scoring 9.825. McKellar followed behind, tying for second-overall with a 9.725 score.

Lydia Thompson and
Katie Sassa led the Tigers and tied for second-place overall with matching 9.750 scores on vault. The rest of the Tiger scores hovered around a 9.600.

Nicolette Vignola finished third on floor and led the Tigers with a 9.825. Three other Tigers earned 9.700 scores or higher, led by Lutz who earned a 9.775.
Lauren Cahalan finished with a 9.750 while Sassa recorded 9.700.

Towson will return home to host George Washington on Friday, March 13 at 7 p.m. for a "Black Out" meet. This the Tigers' final home meet of the season and the team will honor its four seniors after the conclusion of the meet. Fans are encouraged to wear black to the event to support the Tigers.
